Makeup Playground

I will always, always get excited by makeup, I just love it. Being a beauty blogger I can sometimes however, feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of makeup products I get sent to try. I will forever be grateful and feel so very lucky to be able to test out all these amazing products. They do soon build up and then it gets to a point where I have absolutely no idea where to start. So one afternoon, I decided to literally spill all of the new make-up I had received out onto the floor, and picked out the bits and bobs that got my attention. I felt like a kid in a playground, not knowing where to play first. Personally, if the swings are free, that’s where you would find me.

I was so giddy when I opened the Better Together Ultimate Eye Collection package. I am totally stoked that Too Faced and Kat Von D have done this awesome collaboration. Everything about it from the packaging, to the shades selected, and all the detailing, I just adore it. I love how the halves of the heart are magnetic and can be pulled apart, so  you don’t have to take both palettes with you. JUST LOOK AT IT. It is a little on the expensive side for a palette, but you do also get the best selling Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and something I have wanted to try for ages, the Tattoo Eye liner! I know this eye liner is something both Megs from Wonderful You and Laura Lou swear by!

I always need mascaras in my professional make-up kit, you seriously can never have too many. It was my sister Danielle that first told me about the new L’Oreal False Lash Superstar X Fibre Mascara, she was bloody raving about it for ages, and then ironically it showed up in my blogger mail. I have tried it and can safely say, she is right, it was 100% worth adding to your make-up bag if you love voluminous, full fluttery lashes.

I keep getting bored of foundations. Having gone most of the Summer not needing to wear any, I now can’t seem to find one that I stick to. At the moment I have been using the MUFE Ultra HD foundation again, which is perfect for me, lightweight and good coverage, as well as long lasting, but it doesn’t have say the wow factor of Armani Luminous Silk. A foundation I used to always use was the YSL Touche Eclat foundation, so I was pretty happy to see I had been sent it to try, as I am already a fan. Now that my hair is warmer, I need a warmer foundation and the shade here is great. I just have to powder a little more when using this. Does anyone else find that? Back to MUFE, their HD Powders are beautiful and I have added a bunch of shades to my kit. I swear by this brand as a whole as all of their products are reliable and great quality.

Some other newbies I am yet to try include the Diego Dalla Palma foundation, meant to be long lasting and full coverage with SPF 20. Also the Pur Eye Polish, the shade is super pretty and is something no doubt I will wear in the Summer.

Y’all know I am a huge fan of Crownbrush and the Rose Gold Full Face Contour set is super pretty and so Instagrammable. These are brushes that I would not normally consider using, as I am quite content with the traditional style of brush, however, I must admit that my foundation application with the larger of the brushes is flawless.

Lip products I cannot get enough of are the Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Double The Lip (full review & swatches here) and the Collection Cosmetics Velvet Kiss Lip Creams – cotton and caramel are my favourite shades, and the formula is so soft, even though it leaves a matte finish. Highly recommend these.

With so many make-up launches how do you guys decide what to choose? How do you navigate through the hype?

Hope you enjoyed this style of post, and do let me know what you want to see more of here on the blog.
