The universe works in a funny little way sometimes. Not long ago I tweeted about my favourite Benefit Cosmetics foundation sticks and how they have been discontinued. I was very sad about this. For months I had been using this stick over any of my liquid foundations. Simply because they are quick and easy to use. Only a few days later as I was sorting through my PR samples sent over from the UK, I noticed Lancome had very kindly sent me their new Teint Idole Ultra Foundation sticks to try. It was a sign. Hello new favourite stick foundation.
Having worked in the make-up industry for just over 10 years now, stick foundation is something I got really excited to talk about today. This type of foundation usually is seen to be quite heavy, and most would say normally used on a mature skin. For the last few years, liquid foundation has always been more popular. Nevertheless, I am a huge fan of the stick foundation and in today’s post I want to tell you why.
Foundation sticks, can be used not just for foundation but for touch ups, as a concealer or for contouring. For someone who travels a lot, liquid foundations in their glass bottles can be quite a pain, so for me, the stick foundation wins again. I throw mine in my handbag when I want to touch up on the go. They are really versatile.
Teint Idole Ultra Foundation stick is oil free, offers a high pigment, and is long wearing. The coverage is buildable leaving you with a natural matte finish. I just love skin looking like skin, and if it doesn’t then your product is not for me. After using this I could barely feel the product on my skin, and the finish looked incredible. I had so many compliments on how nice my skin was looking after applying it.
How is this foundation different?
It contains special polymers that absorb excess oils (yay for me as I get a really oily t zone) and it also contains ambora extract which helps to reduce the appearance of redness. As well as being smudge and transfer resistant, it does not oxidise so the colour will stay true to your skin all day long. For me, living in Ibiza, the fact it also has an SPF21 in, is amazing.
There are 20 shades available, and I will be ordering more in as I think they will be a wonderful addition to my bridal kit here in the Summer. Yes, they contain an SPF, but most of the weddings I work on here are shot natural light. I cannot wait to try them out on my clients. You can see the finish on my skin in the photograph below. The two shades I used were Beige Lin 025 (the lighter shade) and Cafe 16.
Lancome, you the best.
