My Momma Bear bought me this Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette a month or so ago, and I am so glad she did. I have plenty of eye shadow palettes in my professional kit, which I delve into every now and then, but I have few and far between of which I solely have for my own personal use.
I am one of those make-up artists that prefers to keep their “professional make-up kit” totally separate from their own personal make-up bag. If I didn’t, I would forever be losing things and being as dizzy as I am, this is the only way I can keep track of where my make-up is. My friends always say to me: “Gosh you have so much make-up!” When actually, what I use for my own face doesn’t amount to much at all really.
I am a huge fan of Urban Decay palettes, they never fail at bringing together fantastically beautiful shades in exciting, bold packaging. Like many of you, I already own the original Naked Palettes (1&2) so was intrigued to see what this newbie had to offer.
The palette itself is much smaller, half the size of the original palettes, containing 6 matte eyeshadows (2 seen  before and 4 exclusive) and a mirror extending the full length of the lid. At first glance, this palette seems like the perfect “go-to” for creating a quick and fuss free classic smoky eye look. The shades seem appropriate for fair skin but wouldn’t do much for olive tones or darker skin. If you are some what of a “neutral” eyeshadow hoarder then you would love Basics. For £20 you cannot really complain.
This has become my “on the go” palette…If you know me, without fail I am usually late for EVERYTHING. I usually leave the house with my make-up half done and I do the rest in the car or on the train. Basics is ideal for me as I know if I throw this in my hand bag I can create a quick eye look wherever I am.
Here I used W.O.S all over the lid with a large fluffy brush, to create a base for my simple smoky eye. I then took the shade Faint, a dark brown, into the outer crease and blended lightly along the outer socket. To add further definition I then added a little of Crave into the outer corner and blended along the top and lower lash line. With a clean 217 blending brush I blended these colours together and made sure there were no harsh lines. See photographs at the beginning of this post as reference to the shades I used.

I hope you enjoyed this post guys.
A little life update.
I am now working at M.A.C Cosmetics in the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar part time and I am also taking freelance bookings at a salon local to me. I will be doing a blog post on this in more  detail in the future, but I am really excited about my new little ventures and feel much more settled back home in the UK. As usual, if you have any questions for me please do not hesitate to get in touch, always happy to offer advice where I can.
