Recent Work | Dolce and Gabbanna Inspired Shoot

 Hello Lovelies.
I thought I would show you some of my latest work.
A few weeks ago my beautiful friend Kate came to stay with me in Mallorca. It was her and her boyfriend’s first holiday together, and I absolutely loved having them for just over a week. During her stay we decided to put together a fun shoot to update her portfolio. My boyfriend is a photographer, so it would have been rude not to take advantage of his talent.
Kate showed me images of model Bianca Balti from the Dolce and Gabbana 2012 Fall Jewellery Campaign. I am sure you will all agree, (see above) the photos from this campaign are just stunning. These images inspired the hair and make-up (and the setting) for our shoot.
In true, Zoe Newlove style, no planning went into this. It was a case of look at the picture, slap some make-up on, whip the hair up and run outside before the light disappeared. I even forgot to put mascara on Kate as it was all so rushed, but the pictures turned out great!

Before and After…

The Make-Up
Base
Primed the skin with Illamasqua Hydra Veil and then I added M.A.C. Face and Body Foundation followed by M.A.C Correct and Conceal Palette, set with Illamasqua Translucent Setting Powder. To contour I used Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Palette in Intensity One. I used Illamasqua Gleam in Supernatural to enhance and highlight the cheek bones.

 Eyes and Brows

I used a mixture of colours from the Crownbrush UK Brow Palette for the brows, with a little bit of the Kiko Eyebrow Marker. For the eyes, I used Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow base to prime them. I then used a neutral light brown shade from my Crownbrush UK Smoke It Out Palette, and a few other shades from this same palette to add definition. I just picked out shades that would suit Kate’s eye colour, earthy tones always bring out blue eyes. I used Illamasqua Precision Ink Liner in Abyss (black) to create the feline flick.. I would have used mascara BUT I am a doughnut and forgot!! Who does that????? *slaps wrist*
 Lips
I used M.A.C Subculture Lip liner and a By Terry lip gloss, I forget the shade and it has rubbed off now, but any nude/earthy tone would have made do for this look. I actually dabbed a bit of an MUA Cosmetics lip gloss in the centre, a light baby pink shade, just to add a bit more va va voom.

Onto the hair….Kate… has  A LOT OF HAIR! All her own biatchesssssss.

If I am totally honest, I have no idea how I did this. I have never been trained properly in “styling hair”. If you hand me a photograph and say “I want dat one” then it is more than likely I am capable of putting it together. I have no technical skill, I just guess? This is exactly what happened when it came to styling Kate’s hair for this shoot. I only had the Dolce and Gabbana picture for inspiration, the hair needed to be off the face and yet look elegant.
I took the top section of Kate’s hair and tied this into a bobble, I “oomphed” it  up a bit somehow with my fingers (so technical) and then pinned the sides back. I took the rest of the hair and wound it around into a messy bun. A few more hair grips later it turned out like the photographs above.
So please do not judge, I am not a hair expert. There you go.

The shoot in total took about 15 minutes? It was over in a flash. I think the pictures turned out great considering how quickly we worked. What do you guys think?
I hope you enjoyed reading this little post.
See you soon,
