Beauty and The Beach 2 | The Perfect Holiday Look!

Hello you lovely people 🙂
Today’s post is down to the beautiful Alice from Bright Town Girl.
Alice nominated me to enter the Travel Supermarket’s Beauty and The Beach 2 Competition, a competition just for us bloggers! Of course I thought I would give it a go! You can find out more information about this by clicking HERE !!
This competition asks you to create your perfect holiday look, either a natural, lazing by the beach look or even something totally glamorous. When I am away on holiday, I never really bother wearing make-up during the day. I literally just slap on my sun protection and head out the door! Who cares what you look like when all you want to do is top up your tan and relax.
Of an evening is when I like to fix up my hair and play with my make-up. I don’t like wearing too many layers on holiday, and heavy foundations are most definitely a no no. I love my skin to breathe! When packing, I pick out a few lipsticks and a few eyeshadows, staple summer colours that will make do for the trip. We all hate that dreaded moment, weighing our suitcase at the airport! I never take my whole make-up collection that would be ridiculous, so I pack the essentials!
I have decided to show you a look that I would wear of an evening, but this is also something that those of you who like to wear make-up during the day can take inspiration from too! Think Ibiza. Simple but glamorous.

 The Make-Up
I thought I would give you a step by step guide explaining which products I used on certain areas of my face. Enjoy!

The Base
I always use a tinted moisturiser on holiday. For this look I chose one of my favourites, Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisture with SPF15. I love the coverage and the semi matte finish, and the fact it gives you your sun protection is also really important to me. I applied this with my fingers all over, and then went in with my M.A.C Studio Finish concealer SPF 35 just where I needed a tiny bit more coverage. To set I dusted a light layer of Rimmel Stay Matte Powder focusing on the centre of my face where I am likely to get more shiny.

Contouring
Rather than adding layers of bronzer and blusher, I just used my Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate palette to give definition to my face. I applied this to my cheek bones, the temples and down the sides of my nose. I used the M.A.C Extra Dimension Highlighter in Whisper of Gilt on the highest points of my cheek bones. I then used, a product I am abso-freakin-lutely loving right now, my Illamasqua Highlighter in Fondle. A gorgeous pink with flecks of gold throughout, instead of using blusher, I added this to the apples of my cheeks. I love the finish it gives.

Eyes & Brows
For my eyes, I chose a colour that would make my eyes pop, M.A.C Paint Pot in Indiawood! Paints pots are so quick and easy to use and double up as an eye primer too, so you know you are not going to get that horrible creasing when eye shadow moves. I used my M.A.C 217 Blending brush to buff in the golden, coppery cream to my eye lids. With my little finger I took a little of this underneath my eyes too, just to bring the whole look together. I lined the top inner lash line with my Illamasqua Black pencil to make my eyes pop further, but to also make me look awake I lined the bottom lash line with a white eye liner from Nars Cosmetics. The tops of my lashes I wanted to add more definition but in a subtle way. Instead of using black again, I chose my Shu Uemura drawing pencil in Khaki, a stunning golden green shade. I took this pencil right into the top lash line. I gave my lashes a good curling with my Shu Uemura Eyelash curlers, a staple in my make-up bag all year round, before coating them with a travel sized version of Benefit’s They’re Real mascara.
For my brows, I used my M.A.C Eyebrow Pencil in Fling, a great shade for blondes!

Lips
My lips are suuuuper dry all year round, so I always prep my lips with a lip balm. I used a Nivea one in Soft Rose. I then lined my lips with Illamaqua Medium Pencil in Bait, as you can see from the picture it is a real Barbie pink. I then used an Illamaqua Lipstick in Over! This lipstick is a pinky coral and stands out against this particular lip pencil. It gives a matte finish, so I go over it with my lip balm to ensure my lips do not crack.

Hair
Some of you may have seen me post a picture of me rocking the curly mop on my Instagram (zoenewlove) and I had lots of great feedback! I curled my hair purposely for this competition. When I am on holiday I find I have more time to do things with my hair and I thought for this look I would go all out and make it really curly.
I washed my hair with James Brown London Volume Boost Shampoo and Conditioner. This is designed for fine hair, and I have super thick hair so you can imagine the volume I get. I soaked my hair in VO5 Amplifying Blow Dry Lotion and ran two pumps of my trusty Kerastase Elixir Ultime from root to tip. I then blasted my hair off so that it was completely dry.
All the while my TIGI Pro Curling wand has been heating up on it’s highest setting. This wand goes from medium to thin at the end so it is great for creating all kinds of curls. I sectioned off my hair, so I could start at the bottom of my hairline, working my way up to the top. Once the one layer was finished I would section off some more hair and so on. To create this type of curl, I wrapped very small sections of hair around the top end of the wand. By doing this the hair would sit in the middle of the wand getting volume at the root and a tight curl toward the tip.
Once each piece was curled, I spritzed some of my TRESemme Volume and Lift hair spray to give it hold.

Nails
To complete my perfect holiday look, to tie in with the rest of the look I opted for these bright, coral nails. I adore By Terry Nail Lacque, you literally only need two coats and they will not chip for aaages. I struggle finding great quality nail varnishes and every time I go back to this brand. This shade is called Eccentric Vermillion described as the “Ultimate Scarlett Poppy“. By Terry have lots of great shades but this one is my fave!

There you have it!
