MUA Cosmetics Haul…

I know I know, another beauty haul! This time it is MUA Cosmetics! I have a very good reason for buying yet more make-up, so you can put those wagging fingers away. When MUA Cosmetics reached 40,000 Facebook followers they had a 40% discount on their website. This brand is ridiculously inexpensive anyway, you can pick up products for a £1, so I thought it would be rude not to make a purchase with such a big discount. Can you believe I got all of the photographed products above for just £15 including postage! The 5 nail varnishes were thrown in as a freebie too. If you haven’t yet tried this range then you need to, the make-up is great quality and the packaging is awesome, considering you can expect to spend no more than a fiver on one product.

I picked these up just out of curiousity, could a brand really deliver a good foundation for just £2.00. I am very, very fussy when it comes to what foundation I put into my pro kit, but thought I would add these and label them “Emergency only”.  I only bought shades 1 and 2, as I have an overgrowing collection of darker foundations so did not feel the need to buy shade 3. Yes, that’s right only three shades available unfortunately. I do like the texture of this foundation though, it is very creamy and blends really well.

My skin is suffering at the moment guys so I was really hesitant to upload a picture of me wearing it. It does give brilliant coverage, and with a good primer underneath it doesn’t go blotchy as I feared. Shade one is a perfect match for me as well, which is shocking as I am quite pale. My fellow pale friends will know how difficult it is to get a good match with your foundation.

 

The colours in this palette just really stood out to me, and having previously bought a palette from this brand and loving it, I thought it was about time I bought another one. The colours are so pigmented and blend really well. Such a bargain for £4.00, nevermind taking off the 40% discount. These are all colours that I would personally use, but I am going to be putting this into my pro kit. I am loving cream products at the moment, and spotted these guys on the website and at only £2.00 each you really cannot complain. Just taking swatches alone the colours felt really creamy and soft, and when I applied them to my skin they went on with ease.

If you take a look at the swatch photograph above you will see on the left I have Dolly, a cute coral shade, then in the middle is Bittersweet, the barbie pink shade, and on the right Blossom, a more neutral shade. I really like these colours, and the great thing about this range, is that there are matching powder blushers which you can build on top of the cream blushers to set them. I can see myself using these a lot.

This is by far my favourite purchase in this haul, this brow kit retails at just £3.50. It comes with three different brow colours, a highlighter, a pair of mini tweezers and a mini angled brush. I never ever use the mini brushes you get in palettes, but I did try this one and I have to say it works a treat! I am so impressed with this I actually want to keep it for my own personal make-up bag rather than putting it into my pro kit. I used the midtone shade for my brows (See picture above) but there is an even lighter shade which I think would be great for me when I don’t want such prominent brows. If you are looking for a handy brow kit but do not want to break the bank then this is for you.

I have actually no idea why I bought these? One of those “I could do with a few more matte eyeshadows” moments. I always keep a bag specifically for wedding colours, and I threw these into that category. The pale pink colour is great for just a light, wash of colour, I think it is a really pretty shade. The brown is just your average matte neutral colour, I probably would use this to start a smokey eye or give me definition to a lighter eyeshadow look. For only £1.00 what more could I want.

I saw Karla Powell, Head of Make up Artistry for MUA Cosmetics feature these on her Facebook page so was curious to test them out for myself. They are only £3.00, and as a make-up artist myself, you can never have enough eye liner in your kit. They are really, really easy to work with and I have found they have the perfect drying time – They don’t dry too fast so you cant play around with it or dry too slow so that it leaves that dreaded transfer line in the crease. The staying power is really good also. I am in two minds about the packaging, part of me loves it and part me wonders why on earth not just the usual little tub with a flat lid. Nevertheless I will be throwing these into my pro kit alongside my usual suspects: M.A.C Fluid Line and Maybelline Drama Gel liner.

I was so happy to see that I had been given not one, but 5 Nail Quake varnishes to try out when they are valued at £2.99 each. They are very similar to Barry M Crackle nail varnishes. As you can probably guess from the swatches I am not so good with nails. It is only recently I have been getting into wearing nail varnish, and actually bothering filing my nails. I have never even been to get them professionally done, how I pass for a girl beats me.

So excuse the poor quality swatches but you get the idea of what to do with them, layer a normal nail varnish underneath. I used a Butter London one and an Illamasqua one, and then layer the nail quake varnish over the top. I soon learnt that you only need a thin layer of the nail quake for it to be most effective. I really love the black nail quake over my red illamaqua nail polish, so when I take all this off I will be repainting my nails with these colours. My little sister is big into nails, she has loads of different colours, so I think I may keep the black one for myself and then pass the rest to her.
