Morning Skincare Routine

Morning Skincare Routine

As I laid these skincare products out, ready for their close-up, it suddenly dawned on me just how many products I slather onto my face on a daily basis.
I introduce you to my Morning Skincare Routine. The AM Ritual.
Let me first take you through my waking up process. The alarm goes off, I am in such a deep sleep, it probably has been going off for quite a while before I decide to pay attention to it, then comes the battle between hitting snooze and making the decision to arise out of my pit. Usually, snooze wins.
Now, when snooze wins, this means I am most likely (oh, definitely) going to be late. Therefore, when I do have to get out of bed, it is in a very fast, disorderly fashion and my eyes probably do not open until I walk through the doors of work. Autopilot kicks in.
For this reason, my skincare routine, has to have a strict order, purpose and it needs to bloody well work, as I have no time to consider swopping one moisturiser over for another. These kind of decisions are made of a weekend, when I have time to stroke and admire my beauty collection.
I start with Nude Perfect Cleansing Oil, this has been a staple part of my routine for many years now, and it never lets me down. 1-2 pumps onto dry, tired skin followed with a splash of water and a hot flannel. Hopefully my eyes start to open at this point. The latest addition, and newest member of the AM Ritual, is Antipodes Clarifying Toner.  I have found this to be rather marvelous for balancing out my skin, as well as being the perfect prep for serums and moisturisers.

In true skin-obsessive style, I still feel like something is missing on writing this, a hydrating toner perhaps? Mental note made to stock up on Caudalie Beauty Elixir too.
Dr Organics Dead Sea Minerals Eye Rescue Rollerball, now that is a mouthful, is swept around my puffy eyes, shortly followed by one drop of Caudalie Polyphenol C15 serum, which smells absolutely delightful. Once this has absorbed into my skin I slap on a little of Antipodes Rejoice Light Facial cream, a little really does go a long way, on top of which I pop on my SPF. At the moment I adore using the La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Fluid SPF 50.
Last but not least, I find my lips get super dry in the warmer months, so I try to exfoliate them every other morning with my Lush Bubblegum scrub.
My skin is classed as dehydrated, and it is definitely prone to blemishes, especially when Mother Nature pays a visit. I feel this routine keeps my blemishes in check and provides plentiful hydration without creating excess oil. On the days where I do feel the spots are going for world domination, I will reach for a cleanser with tea tree or charcoal as the ingredients. Anything to banish the blemishes! I tend to reach for more natural products, and organic where possible. I feel it is kinder to my skin to do so.
