Messy Bun.

Today I have been working with another model from Mode London, the sweetheart that is Jodie Gasson. We decided to pin Jodie’s hair up into a messy bun and as it turned out so nicely I thought I would share with you guys how I created it. It is such an easy look to achieve! Enjoy!

 You will need:

Hair Bobble/Band

A selection of hair grips (helps if they match your hair colour)

Hairbrush

Hair Oil – I used Kerastase Elixir Ultime

A hair ring – “doughnut”

Hairspray

Pump some oil into your hands – 1-2 pumps depending on how dry/unmanageable the hair is. 

Smooth this through the hair, avoiding the roots, really working it into the ends. This just makes the hair more glossy and much easier to work with. Jodie’s hair was so dry, this oil brought it back to life in seconds. 

Next, tie your hair up into a ponytail, as high up as you can get it on the centre of your head. You want it to sit nicely on the crown. Once the ponytail is nice and secure, take your hair ring and place it around the base of the ponytail – so it is resting on your head. 

Take sections of your hair and pin them in place. You want to work from the front and pin them so the hair is covering the ring. If you hair is long enough you can just wrap your hair around the ring and pin it in place. However, if you hair is thin and there is not a lot of it, just like Jodie’s hair. You will need to pin it in place in sections ensuring every section of the ring is covered. You can be as neat or as messy as you like, we went for a more textured look. 

Once all the hair is secure around the ring, you can loosen the front by pulling slightly at your hair. Pull it outwards around the edge of your hair line, not too tightly so that you pull it out of the ponytail, do it so that you create enough volume. 

Once happy, grab your hairspray and give it a spritz to hold it in place. Any loose ends use a grip to pin them up. 

It really is as simple as that.
