One of the very important rules I live by: You can never have enough sea salt spray.

Regardless of length, colour or style, one way to create awesome texture and natural looking volume in your hair is by using a salt spray.

I have always got one or two on the go at any one time, so I thought I would gather up five of my favourites to share with you today.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray

This was my very first introduction to a salt spray, back when I used to work for SpaceNK. This fella set the bar very high and I instantly became addicted to using it. My favourite way to use this is on dry hair, just to add some surfer style texture to my blonde hair. I love to take this one on holiday with me as it is a perfect beach side companion. P.S If anyone wants to go surfing with me, holla, as I am dying for a cheeky lesson or two. For those of you who have dry hair, then check out the Infusion version, it is an oil and salt spray in one, read my review here.

Redken Fashion Waves 07 Sea Salt Spray*

From the first spray I tried, to the latest one. Eurgh, just look LOOK at that packaging. My god I do love Redken. Yes, yes I get this excited by hair products. Now that my hair is growing ever so slightly longer (it is still short but you know) I can now put waves through it, I love using this in damp hair before blow drying and then after a session with my curling wand, I will spray a little into the palm of hands before scrunching into the hair. LOVE IT.

Schwarzkopf got2b Beach Matt Texturising Salt Spray*

Do you want to be a mermaid? Or at least feel like one? This one is a touch heavier than the others in my pile, but for this reason it is fab for creating a really messy, beach matt texture. I love the got2b range in general and Schwarzkopf offer some great products in fun and exciting packaging. This one I choose to use when I brave letting my hair dry naturally. It controls the wave and adds texture without me having to do a single thing. I used this recently in this hair tutorial actually.

Tresemme Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray

Some salt sprays can leave a sticky residue in your hands afterwards, which is just unfortunate, but this one from Tresemme doesn’t and, to make it even better,  it also contains Sea Kelp Extract. A lot of people worry that salt sprays can dry out your hair, with sea kelp containing high levels of iodine, antioxidants and minerals, it helps to retain moisture. I so wish I had lovely long hair to create luxurious beachy waves using this spray. I think I have just talked myself into growing my hair longer again…..

Toni and Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray*

This bad boy is also a newbie to the family, but one that I have actually been using the most, simply due to it’s cute travel friendly size. I can pop this in my handbag and refresh my hair on the go. I have a feeling this will be one to take with me during the upcoming London Fashion Week. I love the refreshing scent this product carries, and how it appears to have more hold, similar to that of a hair spray, in comparison to the others.
What salt sprays do you like to use? Do you have a go to styling product?

I absolutely love salt sprays and have been in love with the John Frieda one this summer! I was tempted to give the CW one a go as I use his texturing spray every day! The Redken one sounds fab too! Great post gal!

I’ve never heard of this sea salt spray. I’m not sure if they’re available here in out market. Thanks for sharing these.

  • My favorite sea salt spray is the R + Co Rockaway salt spray, but I’ve ditched that lately in favor of the Tresemme Perfectly (un)Done Wave Creating Sea Foam. It’s almost like a mix of sea salt spray and mousse, so in addition to getting beachy waves, there’s a fair amount of (still soft) hold. I especially like using it before putting damp hair in a bun, since it helps hold the waves when I take it down.
