So a few weeks ago, I wrote about a new series, called The Arty Project. Myself and a few other ladies started a new “art community” for bloggers, and anyone else who fancies dipping their toes into something creative. It began with just 3 of us, and now, there are 11 of us! It seems every other day a new email lands in my Inbox with someone asking to join in!
Last week the plan was to write about my progress so far, we had all agreed to post on Thursday. Well, in typical Zoe style, I am incredibly late after the deadline. Time seems to be slipping through my fingers at the moment, with lots of little projects on the go, whilst working full time. Nevertheless, here I am today, finally, with my little progress post. Right now, I haven’t got much to show for it,  hence the blank art book above. However, I have decided on my idea – which says a lot as I am such an indecisive person, and I know what media I want to use.

I first began my research over on my beloved Pinterest, simply searching “beauty and art”. With our theme being beauty, there are so many possibilities, I struggled to narrow it down at first. I knew I wanted to do a painting, and something mixed media related, – but what of? I collected the images above from Pinterest, as I was drawn to the bright colours, the texture with the paints and attention to detail. You can see all of my pins so far over on my Art Inspiration board
One artist in particular, Charmaine Olivia, is someone whom I have followed on Instagram for quite some time. The last two images above are her work, she is incredibly talented and I find her work so inspiring. I think I want to do something along the lines of her style, but with mixed media – so oil paint, water colour, pencil and ink.
When I was in college, during my Art course, I studied an artist called Hung Lui. Her work is full of intensity and so much detail. I love the use of ink and how in some of her paintings it is used to create interesting depth. Below are images of my journal, where upon I replicated her paintings as part of my research towards a final piece.

I want to do a collection of mixed media paintings, inspired by the style of these two artists, of women that inspire me, women that I believe to be beautiful. I also want to incorporate typography, and place words within these paintings, words that represent what beauty meanings to me, but what beauty also means to you.

So this is where you guys come in. I would love it if you could comment leaving a word, or a few words, that come to mind when you think of: Beauty. The best words I will choose to incorporate in my paintings.
