I am that girl, with whom you open a conversation about make-up with, will ask you if I can take a peek into your make-up bag, examine your dirty make-up brushes, shortly followed by a lecture on why you should clean them. I love everything about being a make-up artist, but I especially love my make-up brushes, and I love discovering what others use and swear by too.

Did you know?

In one small town in Japan, 15 million brushes are made a year for some of the most famous brands on the planet…

So when Get The Gloss told me about their brand new e-guide, The Ultimate Guide to Makeup Brushes & Tools, of course I had to check it out. The guide is written by GTG’s award winning Makeup Maniac Anna Hunter.

As such, brushes and sponges are my knife and fork; essential

for feeding my love of powder and paint.

The guide talks you through everything from the history of where make-up brushes came from, the difference between natural and synthetic brushes, recommendations of which brushes to buy for certain areas of the face and there is an entire chapter on how to clean your make-up brushes and what products to use – this is something I get asked all the time.

A lot of my favourite make-up brushes are mentioned in this guide, but there are also some new ones that I am intrigued to add to my collection. I love that it is filled with quotes from some of my favourite make-up artists too, including Val Garland.

Did you know?

In a survey by the same company last year, it was find that 22% of US women surveyed (1,113) never cleaned their makeup brushes at all…

If you want a one stop guide to helping you choose your future make-up brushes and tools, advice from only the best in the business, then definitely give this guide a read.
