Kiko Cosmetics, without fail always bring out amazing make-up collections, and the latest limited edition Modern Tribes collection is no disappointment. Without a doubt, the stand out piece for me is the Maxi Essential Bronzer. The packaging is so unique, a gorgeous wooden box, with a great sized mirror inside and a magnetic close. Definitely a Summer essential, I can see this being taken on holidays and packed in my beach bag for sure. The colour of the bronzer is a little to dark currently for my skintone, and can come off as a bit “orangey” but when I eventually, eventually, get a tan this will be a really flattering colour.
I love the Graphic Ritual Kajal Eyeliner in Savanna Violet*, such a pretty shade and insanely makes my eyes stand out. I love playing around with different coloured eyeliners, it is nice to step away from bog standard black. This can be used inside and outside the eye, and I found once it had “set” it did not crease or smudge.
The Dawn Till Dusk Buildable Mascara* is okay, I didn’t find it to be very dark – my lashes are so blonde so it is noticeable if a mascara is not highly pigmented. Saying this, considering this is indeed a Summer collection, I don’t want a heavy mascara and this would therefore be great for taking on holiday. It builds well without clumping, keeping nice separation and definition.
I was most impressed by the Free Spirit Lips and Cheeks Pencil*. I am very wary of products that can be used both on the lips and cheeks, as you tend to find the formula to be too greasy or too shiny to be used on the cheeks – a lot smudge and slide around, ruining the base beneath. These however, are PERFECT. I am in love with the pinky shade Typical Dahlia, which I am wearing in the photograph above, on top of the bronzer. My lips are very dry so I found as an all over lip colour it was a little too matte, but worked perfectly as a blush. Crayons are great space saving products, instead of carrying a powder palette that could smash and a brush to match, a pencil slides in your make-up bag and you can just apply and blend with your fingers.
The most unusual addition to the collection is the Modern Tribe Face Brush*. Now I work for a make-up brush company and never have I seen a brush this shape. Surprisingly, it works really well with the bronzer and is incredibly soft. It is supposed to be ergonomically cut to help sculpt your face, which is pretty clever. The gold ferrule gives it an edge of luxury which I really like.
I had so much fun photographing this collection and I am looking forward to taking it away with me to Mallorca in a few weeks time.
What stands out in this collection to you? Will you be buying any of this new make-up?
