Nocturnals Holiday Collection: Black and Gold Pigment and Glitter Set Limited Edition

You have probably seen bloggers, make-up artists and make-up lovers alike talking about these sets since Christmas. M.A.C Cosmetics released three limited edition collections over the festive period, Nocturnals being one of them. In this collection were these beautiful pigment and glitter sets, out of the three different colour ranges available, I decided to go with the Black and Gold set. I do indeed regret not buying all three, as they are incredible value for money and great for having in your make-up kit.
Five convenient sized jars came packaged in an Art Deco/Gatsby inspired, glossy black box with white and gold embellishment. Altogether there was 3 pigments and 2 glitters. Considering a full size pigment is in fact £17.00, a set at £25.50 for 5 is a total steal.
Black and Gold features shades with warm and golden undertones, colours that I tend to steer to personally and so I don’t plan on putting this into my make-up kit, but I will keep it for my own personal use.
First up, the pigments, from left to right:

Museum Bronze a brown bronze, almost a gold shimmer has a frost finish.

Naked is a skin
colour peach beige with champagne shimmer and this has a matte finish.
Copper Sparkles is a bright orange copper shimmer.
Both Naked and Copper Sparkles are part of the permanent range.
What is a pigment?
Pigment is a highly
concentrated loose colour powder that contains ingredients to help it adhere to
the skin. Pigment comes in an amazing range of colours. Use to create a subtle
wash of colour or an extreme effect. Pigment does not streak or cake, is easy
to blend and long lasting.

I created the above look using the Copper Sparkle pigment as well as MAC Eye shadows in Sketch and Carbon.

Now for the glitter…

Black is small confetti like glitter.
Gold is a warm almost rose gold glitter.

Here I am wearing the Naked pigment as the base colour, with the Gold glitter over the top in the centre of the lid, I used MAC Eyeshadow in Embark just to add a bit more depth for the purpose of this review.

Here I am wearing the Black glitter, I first of all used my MAC Eyeshadow in Plum Dressing all over the lid blended out above the socket, I then used Carbon in the outer corner with the Black Glitter packed on top.

For both of the glitter applications I first wet my brush with MAC Fix + to give me more control of where the glitter would be placed, it is almost impossible to apply the glitter well without a wet brush. A negative about the glitter, it HURTS LIKE A BITCH when you get it in your eyes. So be careful when using the glitters as part of an eye make-up look!

My favourite jar out of the five has to be Museum Bronze, for me it is such a wearable colour and one I could wear both day and night. Above you can see me wearing it all over the lid, with a little of MAC Eyeshadows in Embark, Carbon and All That Glitters. I finished the look off with MAC Black Track Gel Liner and a bit of mascara.

I wish I could buy all of the MAC Pigments, I think they are an amazing product, which colours do you like? Did you manage to get your hands on any of these Holiday Sets?
