Tia Lineker: Make-Up Look

If you saw my last blog post you would have seen the stunning pictures of the young new face of Tia Lineker. As promised, this post is about the products I used to create this look. I will explain how and why these products were used. Please remember you do not have to use these exact products to create this look, there are lots of different brands out there so experiment with the ones you prefer.

The Base

On a cleansed face take a small amount of the foundation primer, you can use fingers to blend into the skin or a foundation brush. My preference for primers is to use my fingers. The Mineral primer is designed for mineral foundations, but I like to use it regardless because it creates such a smooth base for the rest of the make up to sit upon. Next, apply the foundation with a foundation brush starting in the centre of the face and blending outwards. The Jemma Kidd foundation is really lightweight, and gives a medium-buildable coverage. I chose this because it looks great on shoots, and would not have been too heavy for Tia’s young skin. Tia had near to none blemishes, but just to create a flawless finish take a concealer brush and use a small amount of the Illamasqua concealer where needed. This concealer is great, you only need a teeny tiny amount and it covers every type of blemish and is great for dark under eye circles too. Best concealer I have ever, ever used. Sweep the loose setting powder over the face with a fan brush.This particular setting powder is great for shine so feel free to concentrate on those areas that tend to get more oily like the t-zone.
This is where it starts to get exciting :O)
Take the contour palette (you can use a powder or cream one or two shades darker than your skin tone if you are not using this particular product, but application is exactly the same) and with a foundation brush (for powder use a dense powder brush) blend from the temple down to the apple of the cheek, working the brush down the angle of the cheekbone. The Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate palette is my upmost favourite product, I am obsessed with it. It is very buildable and blends amazingly well without lifting any of the foundation of or leaving patches. Intensity One is perfect for fairer skin, but can also be used on light olive type skin. I use it in nearly every make over, it is a luxury product but so so worth it. Once you are happy with the contour, sweep a little blush from the Stila Palette, I chose a light pink shade, into the apple of the cheek. Go back to the Shade and Illuminate palette, this time we will be concentrating on highlighting. Use the same foundation brush, but make sure it is clean, and press and blend the highlighter on the tops of the cheek bone, the orbital bone, down the centre of the nose and add a little with your finger to the cupids bow.

The eyebrows are my favourite feature, Tia had lovely shaped eyebrows and I felt they only needed an application of the brow and lash gel to tidy them up, keeping this look very natural. No Scouse Brow here!! If like me you have very fair eyebrows (they are invisible) then pencil in or use an eyebrow definer such as the Laura Mercier Brow Definer (pick a colour appropriate for your skin tone and hair colour) to create and define a shape you are happy with. Eyebrows being my staple feature, I cannot leave the house without them on, I will post a blog dedicated to the Brow. Next using the same brush you used for concealer (the Shu Uemura Synthetic 10 brush is my fave for this) apply the eye primer over the lids of the eyes. Eye primer prevents any creasing of the eyeshadow, creating a perfect base. Now it is time to use the Stila Dream Palette, I was very lucky to receive this for Christmas it has lots of different eyeshadow shades and blushes. I used the natural, beige and dark browns for this look – a natural smokey eye. With a flat eyeshadow brush apply a natural beige to the entire lid. This will be the base. Take a smudge brush or a short shader brush and apply a dark brown to the lash line and smudge outwards along the lash line, build up more colour on the outer lash line to create the smokey effect. Take a slightly lighter shade of brown with a blending brush, buffing into and along the socket line. Once you have mapped out your basic shape, you can take a q-tip to neaten any mistakes up. Pick up your smudge brush again and take this same lighter shade of brown along the lower lash line, you can use the darker brown on the outer lower lash line like I did. Once you are happy with this, you can apply the eyeliner. Tight line is a great technique to make the eyes stand out, take the brush that comes with the gel eyeliner (you can do this with a pencil if you do not have a gel eyeliner) and look down, lift the lid slightly and push the brush gently into the water line underneath the top lash line. If you get quite confident with this you can sweep the brush along this line in one move, but if not, then slowly apply little black dots each time you lift the lid. Don’t worry if your eyes water slightly, q tips can tidy any mistakes up. Next take the eyeliner pencil and line the waterline. Mascara to finish. Nearly done…
The Lips
Two different looks were created:
Natural Lip
Lipstick – By Terry Rouge Terrybly in Plumping Nude
Lipliner – M.A.C in Spice (nude)
Line the lips lightly, don’t worry about it being neat. On the back of your hand apply some of the lipstick. With a lip brush pick up off your hand some of the product and press into the centre of the lips, and then blend so that the lipliner is neat. You could also add a little clear gloss over the top or like I did, dab a little of M.A.C Dazzleglass lipgloss in Bare Necessity into the cupids bow and in the centre of the lip.
Red Lip
Lipstick – By Terry Rouge Terrybly in Fanatic Red
Lipliner – Laura Mercier Anti Feathering Pencil in Ruby
Line the lips with the Ruby liner, take more care with this, as you want a really neat finish, and red is a strong colour. Mistakes will show. Start at the cupids bow, and work your way around the lip. Use the back of your hand as your palette, swob some of the lipstick off onto your hand. Take the lip brush and pick up the product and press into the lips building up a strong matte colour. If you do make a mistake, again, take a q tip with some make up remover, this acts like an eraser and will take away any mistakes.
